ANTA on Rose Street — A Home Away From Home

Across from our ANTA shop on Rose Street stands a familiar building - the old Rose Street Theatre. It’s a place many of you will have passed, perhaps during the buzz of the Festival, or on a wander through the city centre. Now, we’re excited to share plans for its next chapter.

We’ve submitted a planning application to transform the theatre into a 47-bed apart-hotel with a rooftop café and bar - all thoughtfully designed and fully furnished with ANTA homeware.

This will be more than a hotel: it will be somewhere for everyone. Somewhere you could take your grannie on her 70th birthday, or meet a friend for a coffee and watch the city go by. Somewhere you'd stay yourself, a place that feels as considered, comfortable, and grounded as your own home. With views across Edinburgh’s rooftops, the rooftop café and bar will offer something rare: a peaceful retreat in the middle of the city, open to guests and locals alike. A special space at the centre of the capital — full of life, warmth, and thoughtful design.

Every room will be furnished with ANTA homeware creating a truly immersive space filled with the textures and materials you already know and love. Just a few steps from the shop, it will become a natural extension of the ANTA world: not just somewhere to stay, but somewhere to call home, even if only for a weekend.

The building, which dates back to 1912, is Category B-listed, and we’re committed to preserving its beautiful external character. Inside, we’ll bring it back to life with natural materials, soft wool textiles, and timeless ANTA patterns which are all designed and made here in Scotland.
